Obituary for Margie S. Lail

Margie Helen Sipe Lail, 93, of Conover went home to be with the Lord November 19, 2018 after a period of declining health. Born October 22, 1925 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Eugene Sipe and Hattie Matthews Sipe. A life-long member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Conover, she was a former Sunday School teacher and faithful member of ladies Circle 2. She was retired from Southern Glove in Newton after 45 years of service. In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Paul Henry Lail; daughter, Joyce Lail Hefner; granddaughter, Tina Joyce Shook; brothers, Emory, Hugh, and Berman Sipe; and sisters, Stella Little, Anna Barger, Neva Deal, Eula Mae Sipe, and Evelyn Rusch.

Survivors Include:

Daughter: Debbie Austin and husband Kevin of Conover

Granddaughter: Sheila Dowdy

Grandsons: Henry Shook, Robert Austin

Great-grandchildren: Gabrielle and Alex Dowdy

Brother: Jack J. Sipe of Hickory

A number of nieces and nephews

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion with Pastor Scott Bollinger officiating.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church’s XYZ club.

The Lail family has entrusted Burke Mortuary and Crematory in Newton with arrangements
